Each of these template patterns were designed using snow and ice crystal classifications. Follow these patterns and your snowflake will resemble an actual, official snowflake shape. Be as creative as you wish, there are no mistakes in art only opportunities. No two snowflakes are alike nor are all snowflakes symmetrical. As with the Odd-Sided pattern, some flakes are just plain weird looking.
Snowflake patterns are paper cut-out shapes which are not only fun to make but are useful to help introduce math concepts to children.
All the tools necessary to make paper snowflake is a stack of paper and a few good scissors.
After that it's snip, snip, snip your way to an indoor blizzard of white (or colorful) paper snow crystals.
Snowflake designs can also be simply torn out as opposed to cutting. Tissue and napkin paper can easily be folded and parts torn out to create soft edged fuzzy flakes.
Paper Snowflake patterns include a variety of snowflake styles from simple 2 sided, the easiest for beginners to complex 6 and 12 sided templates. Snowflake craft is a good way to keep children happily immersed in mountains of snowflake cuttings while adults prepare for Christmas holiday and other winter related celebrations or get-to-gethers with family and friends.
Selection of paper is very important. What ever material you chose, whether paper, tissue, foil or recycled gift wrap, must be thin enough to fold multiple times yet allow scissors to cut through all layers of the folds.
Pictoral fold instructions are diagramed on each snowflake format template. Follow the fold instructions for each style of snowflake you wish to cut.
Use standard craft or specialty scissors to cut away sections of the paper then gently unfold your masterpiece. Spray with starch to make the snowflake stiffen then flatten the snowflake between heavy flat objects like books or iron out all creases on the ironing board.
Symmetrical snowflake fold patterns and templates include 2, 3, 4, 6 and odd sided designs.
No two snowflakes are alike and mistakes can't happen, so experiment, play like the kid you are inside.
